My name is Austin Elsner and I am a native of New London, WI. Golf has been part of my life since I can remember and I grew up playing here at Shamrock Heights Golf Course where I learned the game from my dad and grandfather. After competing for the Bulldogs throughout high school, I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to play golf at Northern Michigan University in Marquette.
While at NMU, I earned my bachelor’s degree in Management of Health and Fitness and began my master’s degree in Exercise Physiology. Outside of class, I was also a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee for five years and served two years as Treasurer. I competed four years as a member of the Men’s Golf team, and was named team captain for three years. I was lucky to lead the
Wildcats for 4 years and cap off my playing career competing at NCAAs in Arkansas.
I have worked as the assistant golf professional at Oshkosh Country Club for one year, and was named to head professional the next season. Before that, during summers while in college and high school, I worked at Shamrock Heights with both Carrie and Cory, where I spent time on the grounds crew as well as in the pro-shop. As I became more familiar with the golf swing, I began teaching junior camps and giving lessons. Working with kids is where I found my passion for teaching and growing the game.
I have traveled to Chicago to become certified by Titleist Performance Institute. I was able to gain valuable knowledge on how the swing works around limitations of the body. Golf and fitness go hand in hand and that is shown by the world’s top players. I currently hold TPI Level 2 Golf and Level 2 fitness certifications. This allows me do dive deeper into understanding the body/swing connection for all ages. Each player has different physically abilities. Rather than focusing on one right way to swing the club, I approach the swing with this in mind and it allows me to determine how your physical abilities may affect your golf swing and how to work with them rather than around them.
My goal is to continue to grow with you and Shamrock Heights. I want to provide you with opportunity and services, making your experience unmatched to others. I look forward to seeing you and your families soon!
